Happy Princess Week! This week is actually Disney’s Ultimate Princess Celebration week so how appropriate that the registration for the Princess Half 2022 was today! This post is going to be about all things princesses for the races.
We are officially registered for Princess races 2022!!! I know it’s still a long way away but I am so excited to get back to running in person races, especially my favorite race weekend! This event used to be so terrifying to me and now it’s become one off my absolute must-dos! I started this back in 2019 with my girl Kerri and it’s become tradition. It doubles as a great vacation we get to spend together doing something really fun and amazing, while at the same time cursing ourselves out at 3am every race morning wake-up call and then crying the whole time during the half marathon longest run portion, especially on that on ramp on our way back to Epcot, hahaha. You discover that Disney elevation/hills are no joke in Florida heat. What’s special about this time for me is that a new player as appeared in the game! I got my coworker to sign up to run her first ever 5k! I’m so excited for her to do this and crush this goal! I remember when I used to think 5ks were terrifying and now they’ve become a nice warmup. I also love being able to get more of my friends to become more active and share in some of my favorite events with me. It’s going to be an amazing vacation and OMG, I just can’t wait til the day is here!
I know it’s still super early, but I also have one of my running outfits ready already! If you remember my humble beginnings for my first Princess race if you’ve been following me that long, then you’ll remember how difficult it was to find proper race gear that could double as a cute race bound costume. My gripe is that I wanted to run in these races as a cute character I didn’t want to wear a full on costume and deal with the logistics of it being too hot, not holding up correctly throughout 13.1, falling apart because of sweat and heat, etc. I needed my race gear to be proper athletic material but still super cute. You’d think it wouldn’t be that hard but it actually was pretty difficult to find athletic clothes in the colors/designs/styles I wanted and with matching shoes. It was a lot of trial and error and constant searching and it was just a big headache. Enter Crowned Athletics, a small woman-owned business that reached out to me this summer!
Remember my Baby’s First Dopey post earlier this month hinting at this? Crowned Athletics asked me to help model one of their new releases of matching princess workout sets and let me tell you, it is one of the most cutest racing Disney bounds ever! And I’m not just saying that because I was gifted the outfit. I wore the Beauty and the Beast inspired set to model in and in the same hot, humid day, I went biking all around Central Park’s death hills and survived. This outfit really checks all the boxes! It’s super cute and flattering, the colors are so bright and wonderful to be photographed in (a must for Photopass opportunities during the races, the whole outfit photographs really well from so many angles and perspectives), and the material is stellar! It’s light and breathable, the shorts have a silicone lining on the inside to help it from riding up, as well as pockets to help hold your stuff while you run. I watched all the videos detailing the literal details on the tops and skirts and I really do have to say, Crowned Athletics thought of everything when they designed these because they even match up with their athletics tops perfectly if you wanted to wear a more modest top over them. Personally, I am a crop top and skirt/shorts girl, but if you like more coverage, I love that this company has you covered there as well. From the back details on each top, to the glitter print, to the differing necklines, to the pockets on the leggings being particularly higher to hide that they’re pockets and look more aesthetic. Each princess even has her own hair accessories - matching headband, scrunchie and belt/sash that can also be used as a hair ribbon. The website even organizes it perfectly if you’re looking to mix and match pieces for a particular princess like the yellow skirt being used for Snow White. I really can’t say enough about them ever since I started working with them.
And I’m not an affiliate with any type of promo code so I just want to put it out there that I am not paid or asked to say any of this. Just a model, modeling their wares and having fun testing out the product, so honestly these are my own opinions and thoughts on the product. Especially since there are a lot of new runners out there looking for cute running gear for the races, just as I was a few years ago.
I will say though that I did initially feel the prices are high because that’s always been my gripe with all activewear in general, but considering the design work and process that goes into making these, as well as it being an indie company, the quality is definitely there and the pieces are well made and worth it if you’re looking for Disney race gear. I honestly spent more money trying to trial and error my pieces for past races with different brands and other sites. And at least with these outfits, they’re very versatile as well as come with all the coordinating accessories so you don’t have to go hunting all over the internet for finishing touches. I can wear them even outside of Disney races, to the gym or even out as a casual outfit. I do follow a bunch of their ambassadors who do have discount codes and I think the website also offers $20 off your first purchase if you sign up for their newsletter.
I tried to buy the Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty outfits when they launched at midnight but didn’t realize how popular they were going to be and they sold out in my size at launch! BUT. Not to worry, I was told the princesses for this launch are staple princesses so they will be back if you’re interested in snagging a set. I would highly recommend signing up for restock notifications because it also helps them gauge interest as well as anticipate what their stock inventory should be for restocks and future launches so they can have more of your size available. And because this launch did so well, there will be more princesses coming! Ah, I’m so excited! I hope to see Jasmine because I would love to have her as one of my racing outfits! Give me all the brunette princesses, especially since Tiana, Mulan and Moana are themed for this year’s races and medals. Belle isn’t one of them but I can’t NOT race in this outfit for one of the races. Now to figure out which princess for which race.
Are you signed up for the races!?!?
