Insanity Update Day 49!

It’s been another 14 days since my last fit test. I finished not only another 2 weeks of Insanity, but I survived the first two weeks of month 2, the max workouts! They’re supposed to be the hardest too because the intensity is ramped up and most people give up even more during this time because of it. And no lie, it has been REALLY hard. But I forced myself to stick through it, especially since I’m doing the program alongside with a friend on Instagram so it’s really been helping to keep me accountable and discipline myself to get it done daily.

The last time I did the Fit Test two weeks ago, I honestly felt like I had maxed out at what my body could capably do. Like there was no way I would get more reps out of each move, it’s just physically impossible. But today when I went through it, same as last time, I covered the last time’s results so I wouldn’t be bias to try and beat the last tries, and oh man, was I surprised. I improved on a LOT of them and I’m really proud. I only did poorly on the last one because I was pretty much out of breath from the workout and honestly, I didn’t push myself on the last one as hard as I should have. I rested for 5 seconds too long, which is probably where I would’ve fit at least 5-6 more in. But alas, I’ll still take these results! Especially since the physical changes in photos are very small now and my weight, honestly hasn’t changed since I started the program still. So I’m glad the program uses this Fit Test as another way to track progress and it definitely shows. I can significantly feel my cardio improving, my stamina, my endurance during circuits and how less often I stop for breaks. I’ve been getting better at getting though each workout consecutively and pushing myself harder to complete each one with strength.

I only have two weeks left of the program and honestly, at this rate I really have no excuse to not finish it. I’m already this far in so I might as well. I do worry though still about not finishing because tomorrow, NY’s governor is finally going to release guidelines and protocols on the reopening of gyms. If my gym is up and running before these last two weeks are up, well, I can’t help myself but run back to the gym as soon as they open, hahaha. I’m going to try though so fingers crossed we make it to the finish line in two weeks!

In the meantime, I’m going to celebrate the little wins of making it all the way to week 8 of Insanity, the improvement in day 49’s Fit Test results and simply being consistent since day one of quarantine. I was really worried when this all started that without the gym, I would fall off the wagon, lose momentum and just fall back into old bad habits. I want to honestly say I pushed really hard into showing up for myself literally every day. Motivation is not always there, there were definitely a few days where I just felt “off” and not feeling it, and a lot of times discouraged because honestly I am heavier on the scale than when this all started. But regardless, I kept going and I’m glad I did because I am proud of how I currently look in the mirror and all the progress I made. Not just physically, but continuing the mentality, laying down good habits and making this truly a lifestyle. Working out, eating healthy, working on a better relationship with food, and overall being more active isn’t a “phase” I was going through, but truly a fitness journey to better my quality of life and my overall health. And I honestly think it has definitely helped me through quarantine, not only in mental ways but in keeping my immune system running high to stave off the virus the entire time, especially being high risk working frontline.

But seriously, I can’t wait til the program is over and I can get back in the gym and work back up to where I was before quarantine started. I also can’t wait for fall to get here for so many reasons. I have projects I want to work on, and I can’t wait for cooler weather so I can start training for my marathon more seriously. It’ll be much easier to increase mileage on my weekly long runs once it cools down some. And of course, I can’t wait for birthday month! It may be a little different due to covid but I’m still going to make the most of it. 2020 may be a bit of a curveball but I’m still trying to pivot and make the most of it with what I can.

Here’s to the next two weeks!
